Item 1) Miter cut 45 degrees & Mill an 8.5mm flat centered on existing hole. Then form tap M8x1.25, 1″ deep
Item 2) Miter cut 45 degrees & c’bore Ø15mm hole, 15.3mm deep. Drill 7.9mm thru. (note a very tight tolerance thru hole is important to stop the joint from sliding while the screw is tightened)
